Friday afternoon, 4th of May
Local guided tour in the surroundings of Reykjavík: We have listed three options below, – which one we choose, will depend on weather, but if this is something you like to take part in, please pack warm clothing and wind & waterproof shell, hiking shoes and swimwear ?
Option 1: Hiking – Úlfarsfell
If the weather is good, we will make a hike to the top of Úlfarsfell (296 meters high), a small mountain closer to Reykjavik. The top of the mountain can give a great view over Reykavik area and Faxafloi bay, the Reykjanes peninsula and the Hengill geothermal area.
We have the option to go to one of Reykjavik’s swimming pools after the hike, so we will pick you up at 14:00 at Radisson Blue Saga Hotel and will be back at the hotel at 18:30 the very latest.
Option 2: Hiking – Búrfellsgjá
If it will be a bit windy, we will make a hike to the top of Búrfellsgjá (183 meters high), through a lava channel created some 8000 years ago. The top of Búrfellsgjá offers nice view over Reykjanes pensula.
We have the option to go to one of Reykjavik’s swimming pools after the hike, so we will pick you up at 14:00 at Radisson Blue Saga Hotel and will be back at the hotel at 18:30 the very latest.
Option 3: If the weather is bad – swimming pool!
If the weather is bad (and for those not interested in hike), a visit to Reykjavik swimming pools is always an option. Actually, it is fabulous in bad weather as the water is warm.
Here is an overview over the swimming pools in Reykjavík capital area
One swimming pool is very close to Radisson Blue Saga Hotel, Vesturbæjarlaug.
